I Support Anthony Weiner...

First off, I wish Anthony Weiner hadn't resigned and will write more on that later.

Second, let today mark the last time I make a picture before I register the domain name—CFAPI.com is, at current, somebody else's.

So for now, stick with:

CenterforAmericanProgressIllustrated.blogspot.com

And thanks for reading.

Inaugural Entry...

I don’t know politics, and so this feels kind of silly…the starting of a political blog.

Nevertheless, here we go.

For the record:

Contrary to what my hesitancy might indicate, I really want to be here. I’m really interested in what’s going on in the country. But I do feel like I’m walking into this venture with substantial limitations. I’m a product of The Daily Show, MSNBC, and the Randi Rhodes podcast. I’m learning, but I’m just not yet informed enough to lecture you comfortably without feeling like a jackass.

So I’ll tell you what I’m going to do instead. I’m going to draw pictures. A) Because that’s all I can do, and B) because there aren’t enough political cartoonists in the world.

And then one day maybe I’ll learn enough to do more. I’ll be the next Thom Hartmann, or whoever the right-wing version of Thom Hartmann is (I’ll try to be partisan, but hey, I drive a Prius). I might even attempt to enlist the aid of my best friend, who grew up in a politically oriented house and now works for a Republican congressman. I may not agree with everything he espouses, but he doesn’t agree with everything I espouse and he actually knows why, the knowing of which tends to bolster his arguments.

The Center for American Progress Illustrated.

I’m hoping this will be fun. Pictures, infrequent writings, and my own brand of tangibly crippling self-awareness that presumes to keep my entries for becoming too specific.

Our mission statement?

I have no freaking idea. A cartoon a week, maybe? (Aim high.) I hope something more specific develops over time, and I hope it is commensurate with the value of this blog.

But that’s the future.

As for today, well…like I said before:

Here we go.
